For over 30 years, Francesco Hair Salon has been a trusted name on St Matthews Street, Ipswich. Founded by Franco De Lellis, a master of hairdressing and barbering with more than 45 years’ experience, our Italian family-run salon combines heritage, passion, and modern styling.
After running his first Ipswich salon for two decades, Franco moved his family back to southern Italy, where they enjoyed several years of authentic Italian living while continuing to run a salon in their hometown. On returning to Ipswich, Francesco Hair Salon was born – bringing together tradition, expertise, and a warm family atmosphere.
Today, Franco’s three sons – Giovanni, Ciro and Fabio – proudly carry on his legacy, leading the team at one of the most recognised and award-winning salons in Suffolk. Whether you’re looking for classic barbering, creative cutting, or expert colouring, our motto remains the same;

Their expertise has earned them invitations to showcase their skills on stage at prestigious events like Salon International, Barberfest, Hair & Barber UK, HJ Live Dublin, and the Scottish Hair Show in Glasgow, partnering with renowned brands such as Takara Belmont, GBBA and Modern Barber Magazine. We have worked with the Great British Barbering Academy, delivering training and demonstrations across the UK.

BARBERING – we offer the full barbering experience, from traditional scissor cuts and precise clipper work to modern styles and flat-tops. Our skilled barbers combine technical expertise with the authentic barber shop atmosphere (yes, including the banter!). We’re proud to be the first salon in Ipswich accredited by the British Barbers Association, a recognition of our professionalism, passion, and high standards in barbering.
HAIRDRESSING – we provide a complete hairdressing service in our luxury, air-conditioned town-centre salon. Our talented stylists are passionate about creating beautiful hair and dedicated to delivering the very best service. For over 19 years, Giovanni has also been able to offer a unique & specialist trichology service for clients with hair loss or scalp problems, as he is the only trichologist in Suffolk.
